PAINT IN AUSTRIA

This is a reposted image but I think it is a good sample of the beauty you will find in Austria. This is a sculpture just outside Viennas historic art museum. (Kunsthistorisches Museum)

I am pleased to announce our painting workshop in the Wachau in Austria. Myself and My friend Stefan are going to be painting and teaching this coming September in this beautiful part of the countryside just outside of Vienna. I hope you will check out the details on the link under workshops.

Café Jelinek (Alcove)

Café Jelinek 1060 Wien, Otto-Bauer-Gasse 5
9 x 12 inches oil on canvas board.

Besides having great home made cake this is one of the most intimate and interesting cafes in Vienna. During the cold months the fireplace in the entrance beckons the weary traveller to sit and relax. Just when the temperature drops and you are about to ask... someone stokes the fire with frsh coal and the fire roars again.

Here is an alcove full of old photos and prints and just waiting for the next patron.

Cafe Hawelka (reading the menu)

9 x 12 inches oil on canvas board.

This is a painting of old Mr. Hawelka reading his menu. He likes to sit near the entrance on a good day and great people as they come in. He'll beckon them to a table and turn the light on over the table. (when they leave he turns the light off again)

This is the most famous and most photographed cafe in Vienna. Maybe now it is also the most painted cafe too!
This is also a very challenging place to work because it's so dark and the light keeps changing ( Mr. Hawelka keeps playing with the lights). The walls are covered with old posters and photographs and has an authentic Viennese atmosphere.
